Research

The research carried out in the Nursing Department of the University of Thessaloniki is related to the cognitive subjects that the faculty members, EDIP and EIB have. In particular, research is carried out in all scientific fields of the nursing science and in all their relevant extensions in the social field.

A key factor in all the research plans and programming of the Department is the emphasis on interdisciplinarity.

This is, after all, one of the key factors that must distinguish modern research in a modern University environment. This highlights the dynamics of the research effort and the multifaceted approach of research planning and collaboration in new research fields that were unthinkable in previous eras.

After all, research also means innovation in the way of thinking. It is a factor of approach, communication and competition that distinguishes our modern society. This is, after all, one of the main factors that motivates the members of our Department in the further development and expansion of their broader research plans at national and international level.

Linking teaching with research

The connection of teaching with research in the formation of the PPS is made by:

a) the inclusion of methodological courses, which familiarize the students with the research process, as well as the inclusion of teaching units in individual courses. To this end, the Department of Nursing has included in the Study Guide the courses Research Methodology - Applied Biostatistics and the course writing a Thesis,

b) the elaboration of additional works in the context of various courses, in order to immerse the female students in the research process;

c) the participation of the undergraduate students in the research groups and in the research programs of the teaching staff (Faculty, EDIP, EIB) of the Department;

d) the invitation of researchers and distinguished academic teachers from other University Departments of the country or abroad to give lectures or to present their achievements;

e) the organization of conferences, symposia, workshops and the establishment of research laboratories, in which undergraduate students are invited to actively participate;

f) the international experience and action of the teaching staff of the Department, through its participation in international scientific associations and collaborations, transferring knowledge, experiences and practices that push the Department of Nursing to integrate and apply modern educational practices and offer scientific developments; accompanying and enriching the course material of the PPS courses with those of the international research and nursing clinical practice.
