The student conference “ Living in the Anthropocene ”, is a partnership of eight leading European and African universities, including the National University of Athens, and is funded by EU funds. The conference will take place in Athens, May 15-17 at the National University of Athens . The main theme of the conference is the Anthropocene, the period in which humans are imposing drastic changes in climate, health and the economy.
During the three days of the conference, you will have the opportunity to attend a multitude of speeches by distinguished researchers and guests, participate in interactive workshops and visits to places of interest within Attica.
The theme focuses on the emerging challenges that the modern healthcare sector is called upon to face in the Anthropocene era. We will analyze the causal connection of changes on our planet with the changing epidemiological picture: from the spread of tropical diseases and the frequency of new zoonoses, to the burden of chronic diseases (respiratory, cardiovascular) and neurological disorders. Through specialized speeches, the preparedness of health systems, the resilience of hospital infrastructure and the critical role of health professionals in managing crises that threaten human life and the quality of care will be examined.
