Professor of Occupational Health Nursing
Department of Nursing – University of Thessaly

Maria Malliarou is Professor of Occupational Health Nursing at the Department of Nursing, University of Thessaly. She serves as Director of the Healthcare Innovation Laboratory and Director of the MSc in Advanced Nursing Practice. She maintains an active international academic profile through her participation in European networks, research collaborations, and internationalization initiatives.

International Engagement & Academic Networks

·         Member of the Academic Committee of the Florence Network, representing the Department of Nursing, University of Thessaly. The Florence Network is one of the oldest and most well-established European academic networks in Nursing and Midwifery, comprising more than 52 universities across Europe.

·         Chair of the Organizing Committee of the Florence Network Annual Meeting 2024, hosted by the University of Thessaly, strengthening the international academic visibility and strategic outreach of the Department.

·         Erasmus Academic Coordinator and Head of Internationalization of the Department of Nursing, actively fostering student and staff mobility partnerships and European academic cooperation.

·         Member of the European COPSOQ Network.

·         Member of the European Network Education and Training in Occupational Safety and Health (ENETOSH).

Administrative Positions

·         Director, Healthcare Innovation Laboratory.

·         Director, MSc in Advanced Nursing Practice.

·         Organizer of two Departmental Career Days, enhancing students’ professional networking opportunities and engagement with national and international healthcare stakeholders.

TeleNursing: Digital Qualification of Nurses to Manage the Increasingly Demanded Telecare Services for Home Remote Monitoring
(2022-1-DE02-KA220-VET-000088728), contributing to the development of digital competencies for nurses at European level.

Research Activity

·         Registered Expert Evaluator, Hellenic Foundation for Research and Innovation (HFRI).

·         25 years of clinical experience in Military Hospitals.

·         Since 2014, Adjunct Academic Staff Member, Hellenic Open University.

·         Supervision of more than 100 Master’s theses.

·         Currently supervising 5 PhD candidates and 1 postdoctoral researcher (ongoing). She has successfully supervised one postdoctoral researcher to completion.
